Windows XP Recovery

It is generally not recommended by Microsoft Corporation that you employ the use of your computer's recovery console until you have first made an attempt to load your system via safe mode or other startup options. If you have the advanced understanding needed to use the recovery console to locate the problematic drivers / files then you should be able to recovery your operating system without too much hassle, however if you only have a basic understanding, you shouldn't try to "guess-&-check" your way through it.

The recovery console has a plethora of ranging applications including:

  • Enabling / disabling services
  • Format disk drives
  • Read & write data on local drives
You can also perform a relatively wide-range of other administrative tasks geared towards the restoration / reparation of Windows operating systems. To access the recovery console, you will require the Windows XP startup and backup CD Roms that house it. It should be noted that in order to access the recovery console, you need to either be an administrator yourself, or have access to an administrator password. You will be prompted to enter your administrator password before being able to access the recovery console. Once you have the recovery console opened, you simply go through its series of menus based on what it is you are in need of. I.E, reformat, file copying, disabling services, etc.
